FAQ — CartBot on PrestaShop
Do I need to install a PrestaShop module?
No. CartBot isn't a module — it's one script line in your template or in Google Tag Manager. We don't touch Presta files, don't override templates and don't add queries to your database.
I run an older Presta (1.6/1.7). Will it work?
Yes — the script is independent of your PrestaShop version because it runs in the customer's browser, and we connect the catalog via API, feed or CSV. Your store version is not a blocker.
How does the bot know my products?
From your store: we pull the catalog via the PrestaShop API, a product feed or CSV, and keep prices and stock in sync. The bot recommends only what you actually have.
Does the bot add products to the cart?
Yes — natively. A click on a card in the chat adds the product to the real PrestaShop cart, and for products with variants the bot first asks about size, color or packaging. The customer checks out through your store's normal path.
Can customers check their order status in the chat?
Yes. The order number or reference from the email plus the email address is enough — the bot shows the status, the items and the tracking number once it's shipped.
Will the script load my server?
No — the widget loads asynchronously from our infrastructure and conversations run on our servers. Your hosting gets no extra chat traffic.
Can I finish a conversation myself?
Yes. You see live conversations in the panel and can take over any thread — the bot steps back and returns only when you're done.
